Yes, the image should speak for itself, but titles say something about what the photographer thinks of his work - either indicating what was intended, or making a statement about later, post-shot, impressions. Here, I struggled. I was tempted to say something about midde-agedom, ...after looking at the lines and wrinkes in this person's face (...yes, mine). Then I kept getting distracted by another thought - what can I enter in the next Challenge? Thus, this title.

I really wanted to do a portrait of my young nephews (5 and 8 yrs) - very photogenic boys. But, alas, they weren't available in the required timeframe. My next choice - my wife - was out of the question, and will be until she reaches her self-imposed body size. She's fine as she is, ...but try telling her that.

This was taken with my 28-135mm zoom at about 95mm. Alien Bees monolights were used (B800 and B400) to either side of the subject. I was seated on my couch (after setting the self timer for 15 seconds). I shot about 20 different poses.

PS7 post-processing: cropping, elimination of a distracting background, eliminating all channels but blue, duotone, some levels and contrast, and finally unsharp masking.

the title is fun although I see a great deal of sadness in this face ... a very strong portrait

That background is too washed out. Try shooting with darker background or something with a little texture.

nicely done...really stands out from the vivid white background

Lighting appears a bit too harsh and photo is a bit overexposed as you've lost detail in some of the highlight areas. Also, do not like the background at all but I do find your capture of your subject compelling.

Too many things are parallel to me!! LOL I like this shot but think it might of served to have a darker background for him.......? Just a thought. Nice focus and good tones. Hope you do well, good luck.

I usually like clean white or black backgrounds but something about the white background here doesn't feel quite right. Though it's clearly posed I like the way this shows contemplation by using a non-formal pose.

Nice play on the current challenges. Like the use od sepia to emphasise the thougtful pose and the sharp focus to fix attention on the subject - good clean background.

Great shot, love the title . Pose is magnificent, and the sepia is a good choice. His hand is a bit washed out. Good stuff...a keeper!
