The Oak Barn at Night
The Oak Barn at Night

Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Parallel Lines (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: behind the barn

Aperture: F2.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 30 seconds

Long exposure at night of the back of the barn. Converted to black and white and added a little blue (instead of normal sepia tone) to the overall image. Resized for dpc and sharpened. I like it. My first choice was farther away from the barn, but the gaps between the rough sawn oak boards didn't show up as well and it was hard to get a focus. This one I manually focused while the overhead dusk-to-dawn light was on and then had my husband turn it off at the circuit. Lucky for me, it was on a separate circuit. The back light was from our outside yard light located about 25 yards away and to the left.

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions. Greatly appreciated.

I think you should definantly put this up for print on DPPrints. I and a friend would really like a copy.

I like the lighting and the lines but the horizon looks a little crooked to me.

Nice shot, but could you have masked off the bulbs in the barn so they wouln't have made such hot hotspots? If you could lower the light in the barn a bit and bring up the sky with a longer exposure, this could have been a winner.
