My daughter, who decided to be my model for this challenge. She got her mother to do her hair, makeup, etc. She's a natural...

Shot with my 50mm F1.8. Natural light from the living room window only.

Postprocessing: slight crop, slight dodge on the eyes, USM, gaussian blur on all but the eyes (soft light mode). Resize & small black border. That's it.

Congratulations for the little model. She is a princess. The photo is excellent too. 10 from me.

Great shot. Not a whole lot of expression on the model's part, but good color and DOF. Brick background was a good choice- almost matches the eyes. The highlights on the face are a little blown out- diffusing the light a bit might have helped there, but well done overall! 8

what a doll! beautiful "cow" eyes.
the crop needs to eliminate or almost eliminate the brick background. lighting is wonderful! I think this is only missing a good crop.

Beautiful shot... I love the setup...
But the hair on her left seems a little messy... still a 8 for me

With a face like that to represent, how can anyone resist this photograph? Lovely child photographed beautifully, the lighting and background are great counterpoints and enhancements - really special, this image. - 9

Great model! The lighting on the left side of her face (the right in the picture) is a little too harsh. Not sure if the exposure was bumped up to bring out shadow detail or not, but perhaps a reflection on her right side (to the left of the camera) could have put a little bit of fill on the left and allowed for a little better exposure without the stark highlights. Or perhaps the light on her right side just needed to be diffused a little more? In any case, still a very nice capture!

A good pose and expression, well captured. Less harsh lighting may have done better justice to the skin tones. A more contrasting background would make her rich hair color pop out more and really frame a lovely face.

You are lucky to call her yours! The focus is strong where you need it to be, but I do wish in my heart of hearts that her ears and ear rings were more in focus. A very small thing. 9

Excellent, just that...

Too centered... Nice light and DOF. Beautiful girl. Cropped a little to the left would do a lot for my taste 8

A beauty. Red is really her color. Lovely light on her fair skin. Nice work, good entry.

A sensitive portrait which captures the innocence and beauty of a young child. My only minor criticism is the choice of background where the checked pattern jars slightly - but that's maybe just me. Well done! 9

What a beautiful expression. You've really captured the charm of childhood here. I love the over-sized earrings and the way you composed the shot. I also love the clours. The outfit is a great complement to the brick colours in behind. This is pitch perfect. Good luck!

When this picture opened, my first though was a rose and the opera, Carmen. What a beauty. BOL. My only comment is a tighter crop on both sides.

A very good shot, but I think this would work better as a vertical.

nice capture - to make this fine shot a bit better I'd like a tighter crop as the background adds nothing. expression and colors give me a sense of the subject's personality. nicely done

Very pretty and a nicely tilted pose. I would have cropped to square but that is personal taste and perhaps moved further away from the wall to blur it even more. The light for below left is perhaps just a little strong but this is a very pleasing photo.

nice lighting, but i think the right cheek is a bit too hot. great capture of brown eyes, too!

I would have like this cropped a little tighter left and right. I love the richness of the colors.

I like the pose here...the colors are good and so is the focus...I may have gone for a tighter crop and gottten rid of some of the brick wall
