Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Robro...
My original comment on this photo sums up my overall opinion of it pretty concicely. That quote from Paul Strand that I included in my comment holds a lot of merit for anyone who is taking photos of people for any reason. Portrait photos for personal use can be absolutely anything you want them to be. You don't have to worry about what people think of them. However, when you are planning to display the portrait to anyone who does not have some association with the subject, you need a catch to draw them in.

| What beautiful blue eyes. This image really captures the essence of childhood. It's a great shot. My only suggestion would be to do some processing work in PhotoShop around the colours. For some reason, the baby's face picked up a bit of the blue of the outfit. Maybe playing with the channels and the contrast would help it a bit. Gotta love that soft baby skin. |

It's a cute baby, but what differentiates this portrait from any other family album shot I would expect to see? |
