the shadows and bright areas in the foreground complement so nicely the crispness and contrast of the arches |

I agree with the earlier commenters and feel the image takes on a different dimention when losing the 2 white line sin the foreground. I'd be interested in your shot settings (hint for further submissions) as viewing them help me almost as much as the shot itself! |

Great tones and I like the framing a lot, especially the lighted part in the front |

Again you send me back to my growing up days in England and my views of churches. The symbolism of the arches and the age-old stone which is enhanced by this gritty black and white rendition comes over in a very stark graphic way. You remind me to use these techniques. |

Rich in tones and detail, yet also nicely shadowed and dark in places. |

I like the symmetry - there are some great shadows and light interplay. |

The detail is beautiful! I love architectural photos like this. As striking as this is just like you have it here, I'm wondering if maybe Erik might be on to something. I put my hand over the foreground, and the building itself makes such a striking fill-the-frame composition.
Great job!

Whilst the light somehow slightly upsets the symmetry, I think there's anough strength otherwise for the impact to survive - and what an impact: that arch gaping in the middle of this famous screen like the mouth of hell. almost. Step inside, won't you? Fine work. |

Excellent patterns and symmetry. I find that the white lines of the foreground are a bit distracting, might try cropping out this area. |
