Probably the longest title I've ever used. . .
My thought -- When we look in the mirror, we see what we want to see. If we think we are ugly, we see ugly. If we think we are beautiful, we see beautiful. Seldom do we see what we want to become. The little girl on the left wants to be a princess, so her "reflection" is the princess she wants to be.
OR, my the princess looks and sees the little girl she USED to be.
Way back in the day, there was a picture on dpc (I THINK it was the first RWoM challenge) of a young girl and her mother/sister/aunt through a mirror without the mirror stuff on it. I've wanted to recreate that since I first saw it, but haven't for various reasons. If I can find it, I'll post it.
To me, this is a reflection, though not in a "real" or "traditional" sense. I recognize that; I accept that; and I embrace it. I fully expect ALOT of ones and dnmc comments.
For everyone who complains that only the same old same old gets entered in these "repeat" challenges, if you give this shot a 3 or lower, SHAME ON YOU!!! hahahahahha Perhaps it is time to be part of the solution, not the problem.
Dream score: 5.5
Realistically expecting: 3.8 (And another brown ribbon for my collection, sorry Whiterook)
Oh, and this is not a shot I took and shoehorned in. This shot was made SPECIFICALLY for this challenge.
The models:
Left, 3 yo Princess Kristiana
Right, 19 yo, Cinderella (played by my niece Shay at said 3 yo's birthday party) |

This is a really cute idea and I like the different kind of reflection thinking. The only thing I don't like is that it looks like you used some kind of opaque vignette? It gives the edges of your photo an unnecessary fading-ink look. |

I really love this photo....it is very sweet, and pretty. But i-m sorry..this isn't the idea about reflections. (No vote) |

I like your creative and insightful interpretation. It's the sort of idea that may get some DNMCs, but sometimes I do wish dpc had more people that took the creative part of the challenge as seriously as the photography part of the challenge. I think you might have satisfied potential DNMCs with this same concept if you had placed the models on either side of a glass door (using the reflection to add a layer of interest) or if you had included a literal reflection of the subjects somewhere in the composition.
On the photo side, the whites on much of the adult subject's garment are over exposed and the shaddow/vignetting on the left is distracting for me.
Nice contribution to the creative interpretation side. |

I get your intent, but it just does not come close to meeting the challenge requirements. |

I'll bet the voters are beating this with the DNMC stick, I hope not - I appreciate your creativity |
