This is my son Samuel taken through a window. This shot is kinda creepy I guess, but I thought it had some very interesting lighting patterns and character. I added lots of grain to this one which seemed to match my son's rough expression!

Is there a word to describe this category of photography? I think this is very cool. Haunting is a good word that someone used. It reminds me of old-time pictures with the grain and the mystery of the subject. Excellent.

creepy indeed! i think it works on several levels, from the halo of shadows on the windows above him, to the light streams behind him, to the wide eyed expression he has. the shirt and textures make this feel as if it were taken in the 1930s or something...cool stuff

This looks like a scene from a Bergman movie, chilling somewhat and the face is almost expressionless. Perfect foto for b&w... just leave the reflections and shadows speak.

Wow Jason...excellent shot and the PP really enhances it. It's like the opening scene to Children of the Corn or something! Very interesting!

wow! excellent capture Jason. As Deb mentioned the 'almost' figure in the top part of the window is a bonus in adding more 'spookiness' to this shot. My only (minor) niggle is I don't care for the cars in the reflection.

I love shots where each viewing presents more detail and this is one of those shots :)

Just like it a lot. Framing and all the reflections make a dense context for those eyes.

Very cool! A mixture of the grain, b&w and blank stare does add a nice spooky feel to the shot. It actually reminds me of the Omen.

I learn that frames formalize an image. They endorse it and force the viewer to take it seriously. Strangely enough, the object is also more serious as a result. The window is a picture frame to me.

Neat image. I thought you were on assignment in Siberia! LG

The buttons really add to this, the way they're reflected and stand out so clearly. Almost like the catchlights that should be in his eyes have wandered down the front of his shirt and multiplied. In the glass above, there's almost a figure - a head and hands leaning on the windowsill. Somewhat creepy, yes, but very intriguing.

Creepy was the first word I thought of before reading your comment! Those eyes are spooky.

I like the image, the eyes are creep (not your child - GRIN!) Grain adds to the 'mood'.

I don't think it is creepy at all. It's very emotive. You nailed the processing too to enhance the expression -- the mood. I think it is fine art and beautiful. It looks almost like it has one of the overlays on it -- but its even better that it is all a totally natural look.

I love it!

Yeah, definitely spooky.. The reflections look almost ghostly.. and this is one picture where grain does really add to the atmosphere.. Nice!

You're right..it is creepy! I really like it though. How often do you get a shot of your kid in a situation like this...not to often. Great post processing.
