taken in my living room around 3:30 pm. We are on the bottom floor of a house and get hardly any direct sunshine.
Metered the light and underexposed. Only adjustments in Raw including to desaturate there. Slight dodge and burn and sharpened, cropped.
Was trying to simplify, the whole thing took about 15 min, but I think I got what I was going for. I hope :P

excellent use of low key lighting - the fact that we can see such details in your eyelashes and yet the rest is to black shows a great control of exposure

Great shadows there. The exposure is just right... but I think it needs a different composition or cropping.

Dark monitor here but still manage to get the full effect :) Exposure is spot on but as has been mentioned maybe a different composition? I'd have preferred the bottom of your face. Your left eye could make a picture on its own!

I love the lighting in this and how it shows just enough for you to know what you are looking at. I do feel that the composition is a bit lacking, maybe a bit tighter crop or more of the face with negative space in front instead of behind.

Is the black the form? Or is the light the form? Like a visual puzzle, it took me a moment or two to decide. You remind me that to make the viewer work for his / her enjoyment sometimes works.

I love the idea of this. I wish I could see a bit more of your face though. What you have here is very dramatic and creative. great job!

very neat image. I really like the expression, capture, light and shadow. Seems much stronger to me with the top 1/3 cropped off. LG

This would have made a nice entry in the Eyes challenge. Would have been slammed most likely, but I'd have enjoyed seeing it while voting. Very nice decisions on the exposure.

very interesting - I like the unique idea and the perspective. Plenty of information in the image to plainly see what it is but abstract enough to create curiosity. Well done.

Great image - love the clarity on the right (your left) eye. You look pensive - that's a good thing.

I like it! It is so simple, yet it is so intense and moody. Brooding in a way that looks artistic and beautiful.

Great lighting.. though I would have liked more of the profile with the nose being more of a feature..

Oh wonderfully mysterious. Just enough in the light to be recognizable. I like this one.
