Thanks for not using water or sunglasses or windows for your reflection. Other than the good idea though, this picture is pretty boring. Sorry. Can't think of anything constructive. |

Good idea ! I know it's not allowed here but it might be fun to have the photo in his hand in colour and the rest in B&W. It would force the focus on the photo which is the key to your composition. Good luck with the challenge. |

Meets the Challenge: Not... Not as far as I can tell... Artistic Merit (Would I print/frame/hang it?): 5 Creativity (Did a lot of thought go into this photo?): 4 Technical (Focus/DOF/Lighting/Etc): 6 Composition (Subject well-positioned and framed): 7 WOW Factor (Is the photo interesting?): 4
Score: 5 (-3 for not meeting challenge) = 2 - setzler |

Reflection on a reflective surface? I don't think so... |

Nice idea to incorporate the photo. The photo's background appears much better than this photo's. I think both shots should have been framed the same, show both sets of legs or neither sort of thing. I honestly don't see the connection to the challenge. The best I can go is a 6. Swash (feel free to PM me) |

Sorry. I don't get it, where's the reflection and what's the connection to 'The Bible' ? |

I'm going to assume you are going for "personal reflection" as a stretch to meet the challenge. This is brave, and I'm inclined to give it to you. But the photo has some technical issues as well... I assume the background was choosen to match the one in the photo the subject is holding, but the balance is thrown into a tailspin by the dark leaves (left) and the light (right). It's offset a little by the dark Bible and the light picture but the image still has balance issues.
I feel that a message is here, but it's hard to pull it out. I think the curcumstance of the photo being held would need to be understood before this photo could be understood. While you may be well aquanted with the 'photo in a photo', you need to remember that your audience isn't... We are seeing both for the first time.
Please keep in mind that these are just MY comments, and I could be wrong :) |

Interesting idea, however not the intended meaning of reflection. And you just don't have the stance like in the old pic. |

I think this pix would work better if the photo in your righthand and the Bible in your left were more in the center of the pix.A real tight closeup of the photo and the Bible and your face(optional) would make this pix more dramatic. As it is now with all the key elements spreadout its not too clear what you are saying .Also black/white is an exellent choice. |

What the heck does this have to do with a reflection? |

If reflecting on the past is the concept here, I cannot see that clearly. The shot itself seems a little confusing composition wise in that I cannot decide on the central subject, the book, the photo or the person. Perhaps, recomposing with the person a little off to one side might improve the overall shot. Finally, the shot lacks sharpness; I think a shaper image would have been better for this shot. Sorry to be so negative. |
