- open
- crop
- curves
- adjustment layer: Hue/sat, and desaturate
- Layer mask on desaturated layer; paint back all colored areas
- clone out a couple dust spots
- brighness/contrast
- Adjust hue/sat of colors individually
- smart blur on background to get rid of noise (a real problem with my point and shoot)
- resize
- border
- save for web

Woohooo! My best score yet. Funny story -- I thought the original was dried up flower petals in a glass vase taken from the top down. After getting a comment that I didn't look closely enough... I went back and looked closer... and lo and behold -- the original was taken in a sink drain. The "glass" was actually the garbage disposal ring, and the background was actually a white sink. Sigh. So I felt really silly, and assumed my shot would tank for not being close enough to the original. So I'm really pumped that this scored so well. Thanks!

very nice take on the challenge. everything looks great - very sharp, beautiful colors, no harsh glare on the glass - the only nitpick would be if you could possibly get the background whiter and the contents of the bowl just a tad brighter without affecting the glass reflections

seems like you didn't look close enough at the original... in the original the remains were in a washing machine (round), not in a bowl (heart-shaped). Besides that, it is a good shot, could be a tad brighter and the 3 petals at bottom are arranged top parallely
