One of my favorite all time Browns is jacko's infamous (it has over 30 favs!) "angry kitty ready for a scratch your eyes". I didn't quite capture the composition of his photograph, but I did give it a shot and hopefully captured the basic essence of it. And it involved blood. Mine. A lot. Thomas plays on the back of a chair and I tease him by sticking my hand under the blankie for him to chase. But 9 times out of 9 he nails me, and his claws are mini-razor blades. So I bled all over the camera for this.

Shot with the wide angle - he's grabbing the lens in this shot - at high ISO, slowish shutter, with lamp light. Processing includes throwing a cross-process curve at it then tweaking that, unflattering selective color adjustments, a bit of motion blur (there just wasn't enough to begin with), and a good bit of oversharpened grain. I'm hoping (in a sick, perverse kinda way) for a 3-something since I can't turn this into anything excellent, but oddly enough, I really do like the shot.

Post challenge - New personal worst! And I thank Oliver for his comment about the white balance - I actually did shoot this in Tungsten (I rarely think to do that) but until I got his comment I hadn't reset the camera back to AWB.

Heh - I beat ya! :) Actually, this kitty is way happier than the spooked-out one in the original. Look at that sweet, sleepy face! It looks like he has a little smirky too.

Tired being angry, show you they noisy bigger and bigger arm the bigger the lens. (Don's lens is bigger, made giant laser from one whisker).

A good sense of humor develops the wonderful irony of the original.

Too grainy for my tastes. A lot of stuff going on in the right side of the shot.

Looks kind of playful to me. A lot of high ISO grain.

Thanks for making me laugh - the addition to the title is purrfect for this photo! Not voting, but had to leave a comment here, I love it!

looks a little grainy IMHO. i like the border, though.

not sure about the grainy-ness or the type of border, but definitely an improvement over the original. I like your title and your composition - it was probably hard to get your kitty riled up like in the other photo, lol

'cept he doesn't look even mildly annoyed -- more mildly curious :) i think cropping out the stuff on the right would have helped focus the attention on the cat more. that green splash really just reaches out and grabs my attention

Too much noise to be a truly wonderful image.

the grain is distracting

This is so excellent, Deb. And the title really says it all! I want to give you a 10, but can't. I mean, I want to give you a 1, but can't.

if the white balance was correct this could have been a nice shot for itself, even with the noise. the similarities with the brown ribbon shot are rather sparse

i really like this one, although it's a bit dark and fuzzy.
i hope it does well!
