It's supposed to be grainy, it's supposed to be gloomy, and it's supposed to be muted.

Jon, having been to many similar places on a number of occasions in weather very like that in your picture, I know that there is a gloomy and desolate feel that is hard to do justice to in a small image.
I applaud your attempt..however, as I feared, it does not seem to show up too well on the average monitor.
Maybe something as simple as one shaft of light falling on the side of a hill and bringing out some colour would have made the difference.

Once the weather up here improves slightly, I hope to "get up them hills" and try for something similar.

Very difficult subject..well tackled.

Lovely scene and muted tones.

That looks very remote indeed. The muted colors and low clouds give it a great isolated, remote, and somewhat chilly feel. The curve of the path is good, well placed, and makes me wonder what is just over that hill. Good shot!

Not really seeing the lines. Photo is a bit dark on my monitor

Nice idea and love the look of the location but the parallels are not that obvious

As a Scot, I'm drawn to this shot as it reminds me of the moors in the Cairngorms. Very effective shot anyway. I really like the mood created by decontrasting. 9

Very like the Scottish Highlands here.
Good image, nicely composed but looks a little bit underexposed ..IMO..needs an injection of colour and and a little more light to bring it to life.
