Lens: Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di for Canon
Location: Rydal, GA
Date: Feb 21, 2008
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 250
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Snapshot, Animals
Date Uploaded: Feb 21, 2008

Shot in RAW
Brought in Lightroom and done a quick aged photo preset
Then in Photoshop
Minor bump in contrast and brightness
cloned some dirt on the basket
cloned a small bump off her ear
resize to 640
sharpen
save for web

A little background on her. She is scared of the camera for some reason so I am amazed I got this shot. Her name is Daphne (named by the girls) because we got her around the same time the first new Scooby Doo movie came out. I also call her "Princess" because if it is raining outside she thinks she is too good to go out there and do her business and will just hold it until it stops raining. She is a good dog though and poses great.

This is a lovely shot! She looks very shy and a bit unsure of herself in this - kinda vulnerable. And the preset (I've recently discovered those!) suits this perfectly! Excellent work. This would make a lovely print.

Look at that!! Not a single 1, 2, or 3 vote!!! WOW!!! Congratulations on a great finish in a very tough competition! Still, highly underrated IMHO.

This shot is definitely deserving of a ribbon (my pick for a blue). The processing is perfect. The expression is all in the eyes and the catch lights seem to help out in this situation. I immediately thought of a puppy watching his/her owner walk away, and that fits perfectly with the title. Well done.

This is very touching - toning is a good choice here.

It could have used a bit of cropping off the top. There's too much negative space up there. But still a good shot of the dog.

9 - Tones and framing and basket are just about perfect. Very nice. Wish this was 720. Up to 9 from 8. I really can't fault this much at all. Really like those little/big claws (for such a small girl(?)).

The B/W works well. The right ear looks funny, looks like there is a tag or something hanging off it. I also find the reflections in the eyes to be distracting.

Very nice - love the focus and the expression. There is a bit too much empty space at the top in my mind, but that is purely subjective.
