Bzzzzzzzzz! I love the bee in focus, OK, in better focus and the background all blurry. That is one tiny beeeeeeeeee. |

I love the contrasts in this image. The sharpness vs. softness strenghtened by the soft cold colors of the background versus the warm tones of the flower and bee. I also like the border. Good work! |

Yes Roz, we do have very large bumblebees and when they sting it hurts like heck. Love, love, love the pastel background. Great detail and color on that bee. The frame gives this somewhat of a 3D feel. |

So pretty, Roz!
Whenever I try to take a closeup of something, a wind comes along and waves the flower or bug around so I get nothing but blur trails. So good for you that you managed to get this in focus despite the movement.
You don't have bumble bees? They aren't actual bees and they make a helluva racket, like a WW I fighter plane.
Here in Phoenix we don't have them, but we have June Bugs, which are all black and lumber through the air like they just smoked a big doobie. |

Seems strange to me to see pictures of insects and flowers. We are still in the depths of winter, so it will be a while yet! This is a great close up. I assume you were hand holding since you were out and about. It's very delicate. |

Yes, we have bigger bees, but I bet the stingers are about the same. Roz this is a truly beautiful creation. Great macro, and love that pastel background. The stem on the left completes the composition. |

Very sharp and great detail.I usually can't get insects in focus hand held and close up with my macro lens. My hands aren't steady enough or the breeze causes motion blur.
What were you settings?
Oh and the muted grey green background sets off the bee beautifully.
Do you have the blue banded bees and the teddy-bear bees in your area? We get both around the house from time to time but I haven't seen them for a while. They are solitary and I always get excited when I see one. |
