develop the raw with dpp. in photoshop:levels,curves,S/H, burn the background, saturation,selective colours.

For what it's worth - after the fact, after the DQ - I like the crop: eyes, nose and tongue are worthy dog features. Broken tooth from catching stones meant to land in the water?

Stella is too close to the camera! Show us more of her and by backing up you can increase the DOF so her nose isn't OOF. A little bit sloppy on the selection in post-processing as you can see a distinct line where the selection was made to wipe-out/darken the background.

Too close for a portrait, I think. I'd want more of my face (and my ears) if I were getting a portrait of myself.
