I couldn't really figure out what to shoot for this challenge. Coincidentally, I had an hour to spare and went down to a local lake (right by Druid Hill Cemetery) to take pics of some birds. I go there pretty often in the last couple of months. Anyways, I saw some snow on the ground - just a couple of patches of snow remaining from the snow that fell a few days before. Literally, there were only a couple of patches left. Luckily, I also just did my weekly shopping at the supermarket, so I had some bread with me. So I got an idea to try to entice the seagulls to get onto the snow. So I threw some bread, and what do you know, within an instance they were there fighting for the bread. They were very agressive and fast. I pretty much set the AF on continuous shooting and must have snapped over a hundred shots with my right hand, while throwing pieces of the bread with my left hand. Anyways, most shots didn't come out at all. But a few did, and after I cropped this one, I think this may be the best one.

I just got my 50mm 1.4AF Pentax lens this week and wanted to try it out. It's a very good lens, and I don't think this shot does it justice - mostly b/c the snow threw the light meter off. Anyways, I am still submitting it.

I think what I did wrong was that I shot with 1.4 apperture. I should have used 2.0 - it would have been sharper...but oh, well, there's always next time. Also, I know it's a bit overexposed...but again oh well, I should have used smaller aperture...I am still learning.

Ew. There are times when I don't really want a lot of detail. This is one of them. If I ignore what's in his mouth it's a nice shot ;-)

You captured a great moment with the wings and open beak. I wouldn't expect this bird on the snow, I'd expect it on the beach, so that makes it even more interesting. Great focus and DoF. I'm not a fan of humorous titles... it makes it seem like you don't have confidence in your shot.
