 This is a friends dog Benji. We had a photoshoot the other day specifically for this challenege. It was a steep learning curve to shoot a young dog who had never been to the beach before!
However I did get some shots I was happy with and I feel this is my best.
Editing luko sharpeneing my new fave thing! Retro professional action with a slight adjustment to the hue/sat layer to bring back the slighest hint of colour.
I also had to deal with slight blown highlights on the top of his head that blended with the background so added a curves adjustment layer made it really dark and then used a mask to erase everything but the top of his head.

Was there a better way i could have fixed the highlights?

i must have been grumpy the day i voted on this. for whatever reason i gave it a 4. huh. it really appeals to me now, the dogs expression as he looks out at the waves and smells the sea. just an awesome photo

great shot charlie .. love the intense expression ..
as ppl say, the white behind her takes away from the image .. i reckon if you'd got a bit higher this would'v got a really good score .. like REALLY GOOD !!! .. its a brilliant portrait .. :)

What a cutie! I think taking this from a tad higher angle would have been helpful in having the top of Benji's head be in front of the darker background.

7 - Nice focus on Benji, just find the top area/light background competes too much with Benji - maybe a crop variation, not sure.

I really like the black and white in the background. It sets off Benji's coloring well without distracting from it.

oh gosh, how adorable is your model. his calm composure and elegant pose, whilst still looking interesting and have emotion in the eyes is outstanding. Oh and the photographer is pretty good too 9

Exquisite composition...very OOTB and original in terms of framing...suspect you had ideas of "Black and White in Colour" for this one... anyway...I just love this...the windy fur, the soft gaze and the clarity while still being a "fuzzy soft" image.

Clean image, terrific pose.....I wish the upper background didn't cause him to blend. It's subjective, but that really hurts this image for me. 5
