I think this image would have been better with a tighter crop and a straight down point of view. As it is, the ugly areas around the outside of the base(?) orange spoils the picture. Looks like you've used a vignette with a poor choice of blend mode, giving the image a rather dirty, flat look. I've found vignettes work remarkably well blended in either soft-light or over lay mode, but at a reduced opacity, say, 30-40%. Watch that focus too! Very important you have areas in focus that help the viewer through the image. At the moment, I'm stuck at mid-bottom with no desire to look further.

I can't really tell what it is that the orange is sitting on. It might be more effective to crop out the bottom portion of the photo with the distracting white and silver areas. |
