I'm double-dipping this week. I used the same shot for an overlays offering, , but I liked the way it came out in b&w, too.

Converted to b&w in RAW with a few tweaks in CS3

I'm gonna go against the crowd and say I actually like the B&W version a little better. The car and driver really pop against the white background. Great job panning the shot.

Black and white gets to the heart of the matter: Mr. Cool looking just a wee bit jowly.

Wow. Both versions are great, but I like the overlay effect. How would that look in the B&W version?

Cool in b&w but I prefer the color version!

love it! my memory is fading but it looks like an MGB GT? with chrome overriders and wire wheels - heaven :) Just a pity there was a 'modern' car in the shot, this could have been from the 60's!

Is this the same street as the evening cyclist? and thanks for taking me back to my MGB owning daydream :)

btw, really like the photo lol.

I love it in black and white. I think I actually prefer it in black and white. As I was looking at it, I was thinking how MUCH it looks like "California". . .and sure 'nuff, that's exactly where it is from. An excellent protrayal of the life and culture there :)

This is one of those rare cases where both versions are very good. The color is very rich and vibrant, conveys a sense of southern California (and I like the overlays), and the B&W conveys a sense of time travel - then and now. Very nice job with the panning, too. (And how long have you had the 40D? I really need to pay more attention!)

I think thats Stephen King! I like the subtle use of panning to bring attention to the famous authour. ;-)

I like your candid "city" shots, and this is no exception. This one is interesting...makes me wonder what's going through the driver's mind at the moment. Good use of panning. Also, I like the black and white version without overlays best.
