Color is very good. Composition is not exactly what I would have used. One eye is angry, two eyes are expressive. I would have broken conventional rules and centered the composition of the subject with both eyes visible, just to emphasize the person behind the mask. I do like the tight crop though. It gets away from a travel mag photo

James/Jimi, don't be discouraged by the low score. This is a group that votes tough -- it can take some getting used to. FYI, I passed on voting for this photo.
I notice the eyes look a little red, though that's probably just an illusion caused by the red on the mask. To me the bigger negative is the glare on the mask.

| Part of me really likes the composition and then part of me would like to see the rest of the eye in the frame, though I don't find that to be an issue with this shot. As stated by the previous commentors, the eyes are lacking focus. I'm sure it has to do with the fact you had to use a slow shutter because of the available lighting but the main focus in portraits tend to be the eyes, moreso in the case of closeup portraits such as this. I would have voted this between a 5 or 6 as is but if the eyes were sharp it would have been a 7, maybe an 8. Hope that helps! |

I think a different crop to let the mask take up the frame and better focus on the eyes may have helped. Hope you didn't mind but I did a quick edit to illustrate what I'm trying to say.

| I would have to agree about the eyes. I really think that if they had been in focus you would have scored much higher. Overall however I really like the feel of this shot. Kinda gives me the creeps. In a good way. |
