I went out with Sissi, Indridistefans, Steinar and Steinar´s buddy Halli to Þingvellir (don´t know if he is a DPC user).
It was absolutely FREEZING, I don´t think I have ever been outdoors during night in such cold, it was about -25 degrees celcius and also blowing cold wind on top of that. It was totally worth it though, when we got there the borealis were as strong as I have ever seen them and put on quite a show.
I really like this picture simply because the "hole" in the borealis looks like a Raven, at least to me. Oh and we have absolutely no legends about the phoenix here in Iceland but quite a few about ravens so while I appreciate the title suggestion change, there really is no doubt in my mind that this is indeed a raven and not a phoenix but I am glad people see a shape in there as well :)
Post processing pretty standard, C1 raw processing, darkened sky and brightened ground but not by much, since the borealis were insanely strong that night. |

Another breathtaking image. All my life I only saw borealis in photographs, but the most amazing ones came from you, Mr Iceland. |

Very impressive...I think "The Phoenix" might have been a better title but nevertheless a real eye opener of a photo, even for an aurora. Well done. |

Incredible sky, and I love how it reflects on the ground.
Kind of eerie. 10 |

Isn't nature amazing. Must have been hard getting the exposure right. Would like to see a writeup on how you did it. |
