I've spent all day working on this picture and I'm still not really happy with it. Oh well, I'm going to put it in anyway so my time isn't a total waste. Hopefully, it will score in the 5's. These are the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Villa Grove, Colorado. They are so beautiful with all the snow. Shot this the same day as my Winter picture in the Leading Lines Challenge.
This might have looked nice with HDR but I don't know how to do that. Mostly, I like the looks of HDR pictures but somee of them look so unnatural. I'd like to see what a mountain scene like this looks like using HDR.
Editing in PS-CS2: Levels, curves, selective color, select sky and work on it a bit with dodging, burning and reducing cyan color; auto contrast; bit of burning on mountains to bring out midtones in snow, resize, smart sharpen on mountains only; save for web. |
