The cat went here and there
And the moon spun round like a top,
And the nearest kin of the moon,
The creeping cat, looked up.
Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,
For, wander and wail as he would,
The pure cold light in the sky
Troubled his animal blood.
Minnaloushe runs in the grass
Lifting his delicate feet.
Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance?
When two close kindred meet,
What better than call a dance?
Maybe the moon may learn,
Tired of that courtly fashion,
A new dance turn.
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
From moonlit place to place,
The sacred moon overhead
Has taken a new phase.
Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils
Will pass from change to change,
And that from round to crescent,
From crescent to round they range?
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
Alone, important and wise,
And lifts to the changing moon
His changing eyes.

The Cat and the Moon, William Butler Yeats

The deep blue-gray and the glow really works nicely together. Great job.

I like all the cat poems you've found! Wonderful photo - I like the way the cat seems to be almost part of a shadow.

There is a sliver of honesty here, of truth, I see it, then it shifts, and I search for it again.

The deep tones and the glow from the implied moon are just fantastic.

Though I think each can stand on its own, they are a fine fit. Your suggestion of moon by way of the lighting is subtlety indeed. (And I didn't know this fine Yeats poem, which suggests possibly more kitty pictures?)

I really like this -- looks more like an etching than a photo. I like the poem too. 8)

Man, it is kitty day today. How beautiful is this? I can see it on the cover of a book. It is really stunning. How did you make soft like that??? The hint of blue - FANTASTIC
