To Old Age

I see you in the estuary that enlarges and spreads
Itself grandly as it pours in the great Sea.

-Walt Whitman

thanks to messerschmitt for the bit of texture in the sky. :)

Great photo. I really really like the bright swirls of light in the sky. I kept thinking I could make out a word (from the heavens) if I tried hard enough. But they're keeping it a secret.

Sometimes a picture is worth just 19 words, but those 19 words together with the picture are worth all the other words put together (plus one).

Beautifully inspired. There could be no more perfect image for those Whitman words.

I do believe that's Walt singing across the sky. Touches grandly.

Very cool sky! Very 1950's to me, with that foreground woman in a skirted one-piece and bathing cap. Wonderfully peaceful!

I love the mood of your photographs. Although what came to mind isn't exactly what this shot depicts, I thought I'd share what came to mind. This is a song that Peter Paul and Mary sang (actually Mary sang it solo) on a live album I had from the 60's. The boat made me think of it

There is a ship and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep, as deep can be
But not as deep as the love I'm in
I know not if I sink or swim

I leaned my back against an oak
Thinking it was a trusty tree
But first it bent and then it broke
Just as my love proved false to me

Oh, love is gentle, and love is kind
The sweetest flower when first it's new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like the mornin' dew

The water is wide, I cannot get o'er
Neither have I the wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row my love and I
