The main image was taken in the visitors center at the Very Large Array radio telescope; it was a long exposure to capture the displays in the darkness and then I ran into the frame for a bit to be the apparition. I then added layers of a star field and several different astronomical objects.

I loved Carl Sagan; he did such a wonderful job of making astronomy accessible to the general public. He is sorely missed!

i really like it. i didn't notice you at first, then you appeared, and you changed everything. i've always loved the name Very Large Array. seems so... unimpressive (?) for such a huge thing.
