Three kinds of sea salt -- Hawaiian Alaea (the rust colored one), Sel Gris (the gray one) and Camargue (the white one).

Pulled out my old fully manual 100mm macro, stopped down to around f/22 and I think this one had the 1x and the 2x extension tubes on it. (I'm too lazy to keep notes when I'm shooting, and all the lens and exposure details go missing from the EXIF file when shooting with manual lenses).

Check out www.saltworks.us if you're interested in finding more about these or other sea salts. (I've got no affiliation with them, other than as a happy customer)

Never seen such a dark red salt. I have himalayan salt at home, which is pink and that's as close as I've come to see something similar. You must have been really close, above 1:1 IMO, to get such big crystals. I know Camargue is so tiny, it looks like flakes. Great macro.

it's amazing how pretty everyday things can be made to look with photography.

I love the colors of the different salts. There is so much detail to be seen in the Hawaiian salt, probably because of the exposure.

Nice seeing the different size and shape of the crystals in the salts.

this is a cool macro, i like how you arranged all three different types of the salts, and the colors look great together.
