In this photo I converted the original to black & white in sections because I wanted to retain some of the original black of the front car. To do this I used the magic wand & polygonal lasso tools to help me select the environmental background sections (surrounding the cars in "slivers") into a separate layer for conversion to black and white as well as blending changes, like pin light.

On the subject, I converted to B/W the side panel that had various hues, including green. Then, I selected the front car for separate layer to put through the "glass" filter, followed by Guassian Blur, and Blur Tool.

Finally, I used the keyboard shortcut of Control + Alt + Shift + E held down together to give me the over-all visible photo stamped to a new layer. Resized and Saved for Web...

Enjoy! :)

Looks like this was a very good post processing learning experience. I think you achieved your objective pretty well in the multi-part conversion, but you lost a bit of detail in the lighter color car in the back that exists in the color version. Somehow you also lost a bit of sharpness in the car - it's softer here than in the color version. You did a good job of removing yourself from the reflection!

Gotta love these old cars. I like the angle you chose, but the over all picture seems a bit blurry. Maybe a f/8.0 or higher.

The color version is nice, but I definitely think the black and white does it better justice!

a beautiful old car, i will agree with the others that it seems a bit soft or oof. Nice job on the conversion to b&w.

I like the shot. I'm not a stickler for sharpness but in this case, a little extra would make this slick....since it screams "slickness".

Love these classic car photos of yours. This one seems a little softer but still retains all of the gloss. The only thing that distracts me is the lower left part of the bumper.

Good Point about the sharp grass and slightly OOF car! I admit probably just My Bad! I had the personality of someone who tries to tweak stuff to perfection, yet sadly it usually does just the opposite.

It is not one of my better qualities...because I don't know when to quit! (Too often this is true!) I would probably take a fine Monet and put on "one more stroke." Honestly, this is a trait I hope to improve in this side challenge...since I have already seen a great deal of competence and encouragement among its members. Thank you so much! :)

The focus just seems slightly off, there is no sharp, in focus point for drawing the eye's attention.

Perspective is good to showoff those curves, and I like the conversion you did. I don't know if the smoothness is due to your pp, but the car seems a bit soft compared to the grass.

That is a lot of editing. I am finding that the grass is very sharp and the car a little bit out of focus. I don't know if that is due to the editing you have done (you do mention the use of blur), or if it's just very slightly oof. Anyway, it's a really good looking car.

Wow, you went through a lot of work processing. And you got a very nice result. I like the perspective and the level of detail from front to back.
