Superfund site on the far south side of Chicago, designated "Brooklyn" by way of being the residual decaying structures of the Brooklyn Chemical Works. This ghost town of industrial buildings was on an enormous piece of property, parts of it reaking of ammonia, making my eyes sting. In certain places the ground was baked hard, almost giving it a glass-like quality. What struck me most was the profoundly alien feel of it, more than just an aggregate of my beloved subjects of industrial decay; the whole place elicited an eerie feel of loneliness, like taking a stroll on Mars with no way home.

Very odd. Hope there is an explanation in your photo notes about this. There are some artifacts surrounding the peak on the right. Might be compression artifacts or from sharpening.

How bizarre! The subject fits the challenge well, and the black and white conversion is good.

I like the drama and contrast of the stark black and white tones, but I find the halo over the hill to be a bit distracting

Harsh. I find the subject a bit too centered. A different crop or framing (using the rule of thirds, for instance) would enhance this IMHO.

Wow, this is very interesting, I like this station thing in the middle of nowhere, b&w suits the subject, nice work, 9.
