I commend you for getting in that ice cold water. Braver than me, that's for sure!
Fuji S5000z huh? I use to have a S602z, I loved it. I loved the warm tones the fuji gave. I wouldn't have thought this to be a fuji shot by looking at it. The saturation seems a little dull and flat. I know that looking at the shadows you were pretty late into the morning when you too this shot. Taking this shortly after sunrise, or right before sunset would give a nice warm feel to this shot. Your subject would not be squinting and your contrast and saturation would be much richer and deeper. It's important to think of not only your composition but the time of day in which you shoot.
Compositionally your shot is fine. I would like to see your fly fisher more on the left of the frame to balance out the weight of the background and rod/reel on the right. The placement of the camera right above the water does make a strong statement in the shot as it creates a view that we wouldn't normally see.
Overall a nice shot, I'd just like to see a warmer tone and more contrast throughout.

Nice picture but the harsh lighting doesn't do it justice, maybe earlier or later in the day would be better. |

Very crisp and clear photo. However, the subject is centered in the frame. I think it would have been more powerful if the subject was in the left third allowing the rod and line to lead the eye across the frame. |

The model looks relaxed and competent at the activity she is engaged in. The pov really works nicely. I think I would have used a little less dof to make the model more of the focus of the picture. If she is a friend, you might reshoot this with the sun hitting her from the back and with more distance between you and her. That way you could get all the rod and line in the picture. I think fly fishing pictures are great just because of the interesting pattern the line makes. |

great photo works really well with your low POV, must have been freezing in the water taking the shot. |

I could easily imagine this photo on the cover of a magazine. Room at the top and sides for Title & text make it perfect. I'll bet that water's very cold. Nice entry. |

Nice colors and light. My only criticism would be to have tried another angle without so many trees in the background, using a fill flash to get light under the hat? That would leave a great blue sky to place the magazine title on. Either that or go shallow on the DOF to really blur the trees behind the subject. |

Place angler more to the left of the frame...looks crowded on the right! |

just a tad closer to your subject would make this fine shot a perfect cover selection. as presented, nice job |
