Okay, setup... Lauren in the subway. Really slow shutter speed, teeny aperture and a speedlight in my left hand. I pressed the shutter button, tried hard to hold still, and fired the flash at Lauren manually to get the frozen girl/moving background vibe.

Nice black and white processing.I like how she stands out from her environment.

I usually look for a connection between the subject and the environment and how it shows a peice of their personality (candid or posed). I don't really see it here in any direction. I'm not sure why you placed her in this environment...unless she works or lives in the Underground???

I love the movement in the BG and the B&W really works for this... nice work!

Nice work with the lighting on this - very effective portrait.

The way your subject is lit makes this photo work for me...great use of depth of field -- gives this image a 3D effect

I think you captured the subject well. Nice expression on the face and the eyes. My only problem is that I cannot really tell the story behind the picture. How does the L define your subject? How is she interacting with the environment? The only thing I get is a pretty girl waiting for a train. Is she going shopping? To work? I won't go as far as to say that this DNMC, because you obviously know the answers to my questions or you wouldn't have taken this shot. :)

Cool - but I don't get it: is L the model and what's relating L to the underground?

I like this one. The movement of the people in the background adds a nice effect.

Nice dynamic framing and I like the underlighting on the modle in contrast with the down lighting of the backround, but the highlights on her face are a bit blown on my monitor.

This is a nice portrait, but I'm not sure that the environment helps define the subject, other than simply being in the underground. For an EP, the subject and environment should complement one another.

The lighting on her face is excellent and great choice to go grayscale.

I like this portrait, but can't tell much about her by her surroundings.
