Challenge: Cool Colors (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Location: Toronto, Canada
Date: Mar 29, 2008
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/50
Date Uploaded: Mar 30, 2008

Shot during Toronto's dark hour when a friend pulled out a dozen or so candelabra to light the room. Originally I thought of submitting this shot for the Warm Colors challenge but playing around with the white balance gave this interesting look. The result is after some noise filtering and minor level adjustments.

I was wondering if anyone would enter a blue flame. Curious to see how this does.

Not enough cool colors out of focus

yes, there is little blue here, but in my opinion it really isnt enough.

I see how maybe you were trying to hint at the blue in the bottom of the candle light, but it doesnt express the presence of the colors.

I like where you were going its just not "all the way there" for me, and what i mean is its a little dark overall and the flames make hot spots that demand all the focus and atention. I like how the candles are crooked and going in different places.

Just a little flat for my tastes. The differing angle of the candles are a nice touch, though.

Interesting shot but it doesn't give me a feeling of cool colors. I see that the candles have blue and white flames but I have to assume that was a color adjustment since candles don't burn white or blue hot. Also, fire is inherently warm so it's hard for me to think of this as cool. Sorry... I guess I'm missing your point. :)

I feel you might have been better with a more geometric arrangement of the candles as it looks a bit haphazard.

This is a very peaceful picture.

It does seem oddly cold, despite the flames.
