 THE IMAGE: Two parents of some of the children we are helping were playing cards when we went to visit them. I just thought this guy had a fantastic demeanour and the background was superb. Wish he was looking at me. That's caribou offel he is sharing with his buddy, and the juice with the pips is coconut wine which gets many of them quite drunk.

THE EDIT: Levels, duplicated layer and selected overlay to increase contrast and saturation, lowered the opacity. Then did another layer in black and white and did the same. Some dodge and burn, some USM, some blur and sharpening. Really wanted a high contrast and saturation to bring out the colours.

THE PREDICTION: Not sure that this will do well as he isn't really looking at the camera. 6.2???

POST: I have to say I was really disappointed with the voting on this one. It is a real National Geographic image and that amazing background and colours...the smirk, the moment. I thought it would do heaps better. I LOVE this image and will print it and frame it. Anyhow, that's the way it goes sometimes...

When the whole April Fools thing was happening and I was at mid 5's, I thought the joke would reverse and it would suddenly be in the 6's, but the joke wasn't happening. The score was true... :(

Thought so. ;) I didn't vote in this (I was just looking around throughout the week) but I sure figured this would place higher for all the same reasons you did. Very nice work Enzo.

Amazing shot. Really. Very underrated. The emotion, the colors, the feeling of the photo is so well done.

I would maybe a tad less on the contrast, but thats just personal preference I think. :)
