 Originally part of my shoot for the the 'Fences II' challenge, I ended up going with a different shot but keep returning to this picture as one of my recent favorites that elicits different reactions in me each time I see it.

I was happy with the way the jusxtaposition between the man made and natural barriers came out and the interplay between them reminds me of the constant struggle between the two, although in some ways it also looks as though they're cooperating.

The metal fence almost seems like marching soldiers to me while the light set off some fantastic red hues on the thorns.

I actually took this as an HDR shot originally but the original medium exposure turned out better. Just did some minor hue increases for the final submission.

The barbed wire is not in focus. This would have improved the image. However, the composition doesn't attract. It is too linear without any particular focal point. Perhaps an angled shot may have been better with strong side lighting

You got a nasty spek at the top-left intesection of thirds, would have cloned that out, maybe increase contrast a bit, but it's by no means a bad shot. The composition and subject selection are very interesting.
