 The California State Flower. This was a wind blown flower with one petal in tact. Trying to get a shot hand held with a gentel breeze was a challenge in of itself. I'm sure that the basci editing will kill me with the black spot yet I had even nicer captures that the spot made even worse.

this is very pretty. although maybe could be a little sharper, and a little too bright on the top of the flower. but overall very nice :)

Great idea choosing the not perfect flower, the purple band sets off the orange. nice shot.

This doesn't look like a poppy to me....Morning Glory and...? some thing else maybe a poppy. Too centered and too head on. Maybe try working on composition-shoot from lower, higher, side.

Nice, graphic. I think it could be improved with better focus or sharpening, it needs a touch more contrast within the subject (which, incidentally, would provide the tonal range necessary for the perception of sharp edges). With the added subject contrast, the background would go darker, which wouldn't be a bad thing at all.
