 At some point during the Philadelphia GTG at the Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, PA, I asked Jeremy ( [user]jmlelii[/user] ) to pose for a shot with his hands through bars of one of the gates in the prison. He said he used to be a professional hand model. He may have been joking but he took direction well enough that it is a possibility. I took three shots of which two came out very well...they were probably my best shots of the day sans tripod. We'll go back to do some over immediately cause this place has some GREAT textures that I want to get.

Post: Camera Raw adjustments in PSElements 6.0. Open and convert to 8 bit. Distortion correction tool to straighten the left most bar. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Dup layer and hi pass filter and changed opacity to soft light. Merged Down. New layer of hue/saturation to desat. Merged down. Virtual Photographer Plug In, Photo Copy. Played with the sliders to lighten as the result was way dark and too contrasty. Closed in PSE6.0 and opened in PSP2X. Clarify. Closed in PSP2X and re-opened in PSE6.0. Resize. Sharpen.

Too much processing for my tastes. My personal rule of thumb is...

either process to enhance something that is missing, or go so far that you create something unexpected.

Neither of which I see, sorry.

Art speaks differently to different people.

Sorry if I am being sarcastic, but every hand in the entire challenge needs to be washed with soap. That just seems weird to me.

immediate feeling of the grimyness of this photo. The texture on the hands and bars is great. I only wish the brown tones in the BG were a bit more subtle--specifically the patch on the right, to me its a touch heavy.
