This is a rather touchy subject, I suppose, but it'll be interesting to see what kinds of reactions it receives. I had many ideas for "Out of Place" that involved social and moral issues, but I decided to go with this because there is really nothing I can think of that's more out of place. I opted for deep shadows and black & white to intensify and darken the message - otherwise this might've been one of the rare times I would've used colour, since the items I used were so bright and vivid.
Editing: Sized, cropped, curves adjusted, converted to b&w, NeatImage to soften, levels to tone down a NeatImage aura, slight rotation.
Update after close of competition: Just to clarify, since several people seem not to have understood what the message of the picture is.. yes, it is supposed to be disturbing, but probably not as disturbing as some are making it. It's supposed to be a stab at two things.. 1) sex education too early in public schools and 2) the huge number of kids (say around age thirteen) who are simply growing up too fast. |

| I like the lighting and contrast in this (maybe a little dark) but it seems a bit too staged for me and you had to spell it out in the title. But it's a great looking photo, so I don't know what I'm complaining about. |

the point I'm afraid is lost if you cannot tell what the thing in the box is - pic is a bit too dark

| Picture quality is good, sex is definitely out of place in a child's life. However, I'm probably joining the people giving a low score because I think this crosses the line in today's culture of making an offensive statement. |

| The lightning seems pretty good thought you might say its litle underexposed. Maybe litle more contrast and sharpness might have made this image better. |
