To chromeydome --- thanks!! I'm not sure I understand how post-contest recognition works, but I'm thrilled to get it. You made my day. :-)

Thanks to all for the nice feedback. I do wish I had taken more shots with different ISO, shutter speed and aperture settings. It was kind of dark and grey that day, but I think I could have stopped the action with a slower shutter speed and gotten something slightly less grainy. May try to recreate this one, just to keep learning.
Can I just say how much I love DPChallenge and all the supportive and inspiring folks here? This is just what I needed to get me and my camera working together regularly. I enjoy voting and commenting as much as getting feedback on my own work. Well...almost as much. :-)

Wow, I gave this a 9, and thought it would be top 3! You were robbed. What the.... |

In the FWIW column...this was one of my top picks (gave it a 9). I really enjoyed this for the creative take on the challenge theme and the calming abstract quality of it. After seeing your notes, I wonder - why the ISO 1600 selection? Was that to get the higher shutter speed of 1/1000, or an auto setting based on what your camera liked? I ask only because the image did end up a little grainy which may have hurt the overall score somewhat.
Anyway...Thanks for the refreshing POV. Overall, nicely done. :-) |

Although it seems a bit grainy, I really like this...the black and white works well and makes one feel like spending a lazy day indoors. |

the simplest of the good pictures I've seen in this challenge. Increased DOF wouldn't hurt. |

This is a nice photo for it's simplicity. |

may not score well here, but I am a total sucker for this kind of image, and love the concept, the abstraction, the interacting forms, so I am totally sold
