Challenge: Water III (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
Location: Florida
Date: Apr 13, 2008
Aperture: f7.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/250
Date Uploaded: Apr 13, 2008

Took a TON of light to get this - and a lot of water balloons. Shot outside in partial sunlight, 2 flash units and a big silver reflector to get enough light for speed to stop the action without goofy small DOF. We killed about 50 balloons. The "arrow" is a bamboo skewer :)

Dark was made black and black was made blueish with RAW conversion. Only a bit of dodging & burning was needed. Most of the editing is to get the right areas sharp and not too sharp.

Last minute addition of a light pass of LucisArts. :)

This was fun, and messy.

Crazy shot Cindi - it looks disturbingly medical somehow :- )

So if you got through 50 balloons, how many hundreds of shot's did you get through ?

Colors are nice but you know for a shot like this to be successful you have to stop the motion and you didn't do it. Your lighting just wasn't fast enough. However I do find the water pattern on top of the balloon interesting so not all is lost. Wish you well in the challenge.
