I've always been a fan of sunsets however not so much power lines, trees, houses, cars, etc. There are few places where one can get a good shot around here. There is a marshland park west of where I live, down a long dirt road. Not many people know about it but it makes for the perfect spot for such shots.

I wanted to do something a bit different than just another shot of an orange horizon which is why I included the tree. I think it adds a simple depth to the image that otherwise was absent. Further the silhouette gives a nice contrast to the background I think.

I am still learning and this is my first shot to use the rules of thirds, it is amazing how different images look with and without that simple rule. :)

I know shots like this are common so I'm not expecting a high placement however I just wanted to share this with everyone.

Post-Challenge:
Here is a version of it with a tighter crop on the ground. I personally liked the dark void in contrast to the light sky and the tree stretching that darkness like wet paint, but people have differing tastes. That said, the cropped version isn't so bad either :)

Lovely Florida looking sunset. I would crop most of the empty darkness from the bottom for better impact. It makes a nice wide shot.

Lovely image, but the darkness on the bottom detracts from the pretty sky. jmho...

It is a better silhouette than sunset picture.

Nice and smooth. Could be a postcard, or with that broad blue area, it would make a great background for a business card, and it's the right shape.
