 This amaryllis was loaned to me by my dad this year... already with a bud.

He had taken it and several others, as they were in bloom, to HIS dad (my 99 year old grandfather) in his assisted living home every time one had a bloom.

The elderly ladies all came by his apartment... "Hi Clyde... May I see your bloom...?" *flirty smile on their faces* The grin on my grandfather's face... always a twinkle in his eye... a good memory.

I love the memory... and the fact that my dad trusted me the very next bloom, after his daddy's body died, to enjoy and photograph.

The colors are excellent against the high key background. Nice use of depth of field at a smaller aperture to keep it all sharp.

this is a nice shot, but the black border on a light colored shot kida draws away the attention. maybe getting rid of the border could help
