 In looking for a subject for a macro/close-up image with no bugs or flowers, I noticed on the bookshelf an anniversary clock with four spinning brass weights (each the size of quarter). I took it out of the protective glass dome and covered it with dark shirt that has a brightly colored pattern. The set up involved shining light sources through the shirt (SB800 flash, window light, two reflectors). I poked my macro lens under the edge of the shirt with the camera on a tripod. To me, the result looks like something from an exotic treasure box. Al alternate version using birthday gift wrap instead of the shirt was nice enough, but the pattern was too busy and the coloring seemed dull by comparison.

Very interesting colors and patterns. Perhaps a little more of an abstract crop would really push this image further. I also feel it needs a curves and/or saturation adjustment to add a bit more pop.
