If I had one day when I didn't have to be all confused and I didn't have to feel that I was ashamed of everything. If I felt that I belonged someplace. You know?

James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause

This is Robert, Ruiz. He was in a car driven by a 15 year old without a drivers license. He was killed immediately when the car ran into a stone retaining wall at 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning. He was 14. My heart is aching for his family and friends. I took this photo 2 years ago on the last day of school. He was a misguided kid, always in trouble, but I think he was good at heart. I hope he finds light on the other side.

Oh no. This is heartbreaking. He really looks like a kid with a great heart. I also hope he finds light on the other side. So sorry for him and all who knew him. :-(

How sad to hear of his passing. Before reading your details, I was thinking here was a boy with a carefree smile - perhaps a bit mischievous as all boys can be.

Judy! What a SAD story! I'm so sorry for that kid and his family. So many kids are always in trouble when they are that age -- but they grow up and really make something out of themselves. It breaks my heart that his life was snuffed out before he could make it right. His parents have to live with it ending like that.

Auuuggghh. . .my heart is breaking!

so sad to hear about such a tragic and terrible death ..
he's in my prayers now along with his family and friends ..
its a great photograph judy .. you've caught so much in his face and expression .. the rebelliousness in that cheeky grin and there's something in his eyes, as if looking out at us from behind a veil of some kind .. cant explain ..
.. :)

Cool shot. Don't like the haze so much - I think boys are better left un-hazy.

Thanks for sharing, Judy. Gives us a chance to wish him well on his journey. I hope he's at peace.

Beautiful photo and fitting quote as a tribute to him.

So sad. Lots of "why"s come to mind. This is a wonderful tribute, though. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
