 Shot with Panasonic FZ30 in the Sports mode. Sports mode gives faster shutter speed and shallower DOF.

PP: crop, noiseware, minimal dodge & burn, slight exposure adjustment (offset & gamma), contrast on bird and foreground (soft light curves layer at 50%), resize, sharpen slightly, save for web.

splendid shot - those are some crazy cool talons on that bird

the smoothness of the background and the crisp details on the feather set this one apart from most of the shots i have seen so far...

Good choice using the sports mode, it did allow for great DOF. Love the detail on the bird!

Wow, Julie! This is a very nice shot for a P&S shot in a flag pond. I am impressed with the POV, and the overall composition. The detail in the bird is good too. Nice shooting. You are fortunate to have time and a good location to go bird hunting nearby.

That's a really nice photograph, the colours of the bird, the dof, sharpness of the bird and branch are all fantastic. As for noise, I certainly don't notice any
