Shot using the digital macro setting, it seems to work very well, according to the exif the focal length was 5mm!

This is a tree just outside my work so shot it before work this morning ... I think I took it at the perfect time as the sky has clouded over now!

I've never really shot flowers before.

Basic PP, crop, curves, a little burning around the edges, usm, sfw

Flowers are great subjects. This is beautifully done. The sharpness of the pretty flowers and blurry background with diagonals works very well together.

the lighting and comp are right on the money - i wish my p&s could even get half as nice as this image - a wonderful shot and a pleasure to view

Pixelpig said it: "the intimate relationship between flower petals and sunlight." This is a tribute to this cluster of tiny blooms.

Gorgeous -- the focus, the detail, the DOF, the light, the composition, the colors. I don't have any suggestions.

The little Canon did a nice job of controlling the hard sun light in this shot. As you said, the P&S cameras are a lot of fun to have around, and they do macro very nicely.

Wow--your first shot at flowers. You will be hooked on the intimate, expressive relationship between flower petals & sunlight--just look at how beautifully you captured it in this shot! I see clean, clear whites & a nice blue in the sky, too. IMO I have to bring the shot to the camera when I'm using a DSLR. With a P&S I feel like I'm bringing the camera to the shot, allowing for a quicker, more spontaneous reaction to what I see around me. It's good to have a variety.

I still want to crop your image tighter. I'd like to see the bottom frame just below the edge of the flowers. I guess maybe I'm just a tight crop kinda guy.

I like that the tilt of the shot has the background trees at an angle.
