This is part of a set bronzes in Boston in honor of those who died in the Irish potato famine. It was a really interesting set of statues which involved a man woman and child who are healthy and well dressed looking across a courtyard at a man woman and child who are in rags, on the verge of starvation, and obviously in great distress. My friend and I had a debate about whether it was the same family at two different times or two different families.
I played with the color a bit to try to make a better duotone photo - I don't really know what I'm doing on that front, though, unfortunately, so there was a lot of "undo." The face was really dark so lightened shadows, darkened highlights, convert to b/w, colorize, neatimage, crop, resize, sharpen. I wish the pidgen had been a little more in focus, but it was a hazy day and my aperture was fairly large. |
