On March 29th I was walking down a trail in the woods of northern Michigan when I came across this little critter who woke up a little early this year.

This shot must have been difficult to obtain, and although it is a great shot, it was difficult for me to fit into this challenge becuase the snow doesn't look like snow. It looks like poorly white-balanced or desaturated sand, especially with the other twigs and bits. Now that I know it is snow, it looks more like snow.

Take note that during the challenge voting period, the voting public cannot see your "Photographer's Comments" at all. If I was able to see them I would have voted differently.

As it stands, the snow didn't look obviously like snow to me, and for me, was a difficult fit for this challenge.

Litle to early. Perfectly focused considering your extreamly swallow DOF.

Great subject but a bit too dark. I know that its hard to get good exposure on snow of a dark object without spot editing, but a slight increase in levels, while lowering the contrast might have really helped. Never the less this is a great capture with good focus and DOF.
