Another shot with the amazing Helios 85mm f/1.5. A very challenging lens to use - very heavy (and this is coming from someone used to handling big whites), very shallow depth of field of course so very hard to manually focus in low light, which the studio has to have to shoot with flash without unwanted colour casts and lighting if i'm shooting wide open, even at iso100. Then of course there are all the issues of controlling flare, the lens coatings on this being hardly modern and it lacking a hood of any kind.
To complicate this shot further, i was perched three quarters of the way up a rather wobbly ladder. Model looking up at me. Single flash firing into an umbrella on the left (set to overexpose by a stop and a third over the meter), black card off the shot to the right, red backdrop on the floor to match the model's clothes.
The idea behind this shot is to try and convey the idea she is listening to the ball or feeling it against her cheek, perhaps leaving it ambiguous between which. The image has a very limited colour palette with really just reds and blacks, skin being a sort of red, with the green ball strongly contrasting against, well, everything. That is in theory enough to suggest the ball's primary property is colour, so the suggestion is she is listening or feeling its colour - synaesthesia. Perhaps the concept is a bit overelaborate.
Editing: the colours and lighting came out exactly as intended, no contrast or tonal adjustments of any kind were needed. A bit of cloning to clean up stray hairs, dust and other minor marks, resize and sharpen.

Just a little too soft. Very nice though. |

I am not sure what senses and stimulus she is getting from the ball, I think i am understanding the touch part and the smoothness of the shot goes with the smoothness of the ball. but bar that, nada. |

An interesting photo, though I don't get the title or understand what she is doing.
Ok, I looked it up on Wikipedia, and I now know what it is,(sort of) so this must be an illustration of the condition or a portrait of a person who has it. |
