My grandson (age 3 1/2) thought it would be really funny to throw his ball at his grandmother and her 40D. I managed to stop the action before the ball hit me! (I'm pretty nimble for an old lady!) I really liked the shot, but there was some pretty ugly stuff in the background, and some of it (a table covered with a plastic cover) was just too big to clone out, so I decided to fake it. I couldn't make some shrubbery look natural, so I decided on the frankly fake approach. The tulip was taken a couple of days later. It's covering up the table, a coiled hose, a pot with some dead plants, and something in the neighbor's yard.

Clever to use the flower to hide the stuff. At least you still have his attention for a picture - my kids tend to ignore me or even turn the other way!

Very creative on hiding the bad stuff. It is now an interesting, colorful, action-filled shot.

This is such a creative idea I love it. I love how you caught your son throwing the ball and then used the tulips to take out the undesirables. Great job.

Very cool! I like his expression and the overall composition, frankly fake or not, turned out very well.
Good thing your theme isn't "Big Rocks" ;-)

Very creative use of tulips!!

I love the surreal quality of this. The tulips are artfully mixed into the picture and I probably wouldn't even have realized they were added to cover sins if you hadn't mentioned it. Wonderful candid portrait of your grandson. Well done!
