Out for an walk on a windy evening in the small patch of woods behind my house, this deer popped out onto the trail, stood looking at me for a couple of seconds and then flashed off back into the woods. The light levels were very low as it was just before sunset.

Post processing using PSPXI includes shadow/nidtone/highlight adjustment, clarify, brightness/contrast, levels, curves, usm and dnr.

Obviously the focus could be better, and the will hurt you.
However, It is an awseome pasture, great deer posture and nice warm colors.

For me, your image quality appears grainy and dark. I think if there had been more light or if you had a longer lens to get closer to the deer itself, I would have scored your image higher.

I would like this photo better if it were sharper.

Composition: 6
Technical: 2 - Sorry, rubbed my eyes raw trying to get past the blur
Creativity: 4
Appeal: 3 - With some painterly effects, it could have some artistic appeal because of the mixture of colors
Challenge: 5 - I only know what one of the three words mean - I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that the other two are real words. ;-)
Overall Calculated Average Score: 4

The overall image is too soft.

I find the picture lacking in contrast. And, if the title is to match the picture, I would like to see a close-up of the eyes. The deer is lost in this photograph.

nice title but nothing seems to be in focus in the picture...

It must have been very exciting to see this animal in the wild like this. The beauty of the moment has not been translated this time. The blur (possibly from camera shake) is too extreme to make this image a high scorer.

It's way too noisy and blurry unfortunately :(
