The biker who was doing this stunt called it a suicide hence the term "Suicide" in the title. You will notice, the rider's hands are actually behind him on the jump(clapping).

I spent the evening at the local "skate park" that the bikers also use because of the many ramps. After shooting many shots (over 100) I decided that this one looked the best. I have many trick shots that don't do the bikers justice. The frozen image doesn't give you the feeling I had watching these guys!

Wow, a new PB!!! I really didn't think this would do that well given my track record so far but I must have touched the DPCer button right this time. Thanks to everyone who voted and especially those who made comments!

I thought I had commented on this photo when I voted, but alas, I had not. Anyway, coming from the perspective of a rider myself, I think this is taken pretty well. Ideally for this type of shot (magazine spreads) you'd get more of the surrounding area into the shot in order to illustrate the height of the rider (this may or may not have been possible). I like the silhouette though, and the sunset is a great addition. If you're curious, though, this is and yet is not technically a suicide no hander. A traditional suicide no hander has the bike parallel with the ground and the hands are put directly behind the rider, sometimes with a clap behind the back added, and not vertical as it is in this pick. When the bike is vertical, you would traditionally do what is called a tuck no hander, wherein you hold the bars on top of your thighs at your waistline, bending over to pinch them, and extending your hands straight up. Personally, I think a proper tuck no hander would've improved this shot a great deal, because it's a great trick for silhouettes. Anyway, I liked the shot, and was just throwing this out in case you might be interested.

Not sure I like the comp and the way the phone lines cut across the frame, but the silhouette is nice and the colors bold and pleasing.

Great capture , pity about the power lines, seem to spoil the shot IMO

Love the colours and strong shilouette(sp?) , and I won't even mention the powerlines as i feel they add to the deliniation of the orange and blue. I would however liked to have seen the rider in a more side-on profile. This is so cool and would love to see your outtakes.

Really like the concept and array of colours in the sky, but something is missing and I can't quite put my finger on it.
